In all lifes battles, God cares

Study Guide

The following may help you reflect further on the message
(the points could also be used as a discussion guide at fellowship groups)

  1. Discuss some of your personal battles. How did the message from Genesis 24 help in this? How important is 1 Peter 5:7 in this context?
  2. Discuss the following: As God’s children, we are not wrapped in cotton wool. We are not kept from hostile events or a hostile environment. In all this conflict, however, God cares.
  3. How did you relate to the unnamed messenger in Genesis 14:13? How does this relate to Timothy and Epaphroditus in Philippians 2:19-30? See also Esther 4:14.
  4. In the context of Abram’s response to rescue Lot, how do you view Psalm 91:10-11 and Hebrews 1:14? In application, you could also look at 1 John 3:16.
  5. Make a study of Psalm 110 asking who the main character is. Hebrews 6:20-7:28 should help in your discussion. How does the Lord show his care through Melchizedek?
  6. How did Abram handle the temptation in Genesis 14:21? How should we handle the temptation to covetousness and consumerism?
  7. Psalm 23 is sometimes seen in a serene way, but there is conflict here too. Look at the Psalm again and see how God cares even through the dark shadows.
  8. How do you understand and apply Philippians 4:13 in the light of Sunday’s message?
