Who's your daddy?

Study Guide

The following may help you reflect further on the message
(the points could also be used as a discussion guide at fellowship groups)

  1. How has your relationship with your earthly father affected your view of God as a perfect father figure in your life?
  2. Read Hebrews 2v5-18. Reflect on the significance of Jesus being made like us, so that we could be made like him.
  3. Galatians 4v1-5 uses legal imagery to explain the status of our relationship with God. How does knowing you have a right to your inhiretance in Christ affect your appreciation of it?
  4. To what extent can we enjoy our spiritual inheritance - eternal life and dominion over all things - before Christ's second coming? (Herbrews 2v8-9). Do your views on this affect how you feel about it?
  5. Look at the parable of the lost son (Luke 15v11-31). What parallels can be drawn between each of the two sons' attitudes to their fathers wealth (v13 and 29) and our attitude to our spiritual inheritance?
  6. In what ways do we fall into the same trap as the Galatians (Galatians 4v8-11)
  7. Which of God's attributes does the term "Abba" or "Daddy" convey to you?
  8. Spend some time meditating on Jesus' prayer in the garden of Gethsemane (Mark 14v36). What does this reveal about the relationship between the Son and the Father?
