    1. How can living in the light of God’s love help us through the present problems in the world? How do we answer the question: “Where is God when it hurts? How is this addressed in 1 John 4:7-12?
    2. How does 1 John 4:7-8 relate to Ephesians 5:1-2?
    3. Discuss the following: Depending on how we were raised, we may struggle to accept love, to feel loved, or to express love. How can this be resolved in the love of God? See Psalm 86:5.
    4. How important are the two aspects of the sending of Jesus into the world in 1 John 4:9-10? Is either of them more important than the other? See John 1:14-18.
    5. Talk about the incarnation of Christ into the world (beyond the birth of Christ), and how this should affect us today. See 1 John 4:9.
    6. Discuss the clear statement on love in 1 John 4:10. How does this differ from the emphasis on love in the world today? See also John 15:13.
    7. John mentions love 15 times in 1 John 4:7-12. Do you think he is trying to make a point?
