He cares for you
Study Guide
The following may help you reflect further on the message
(the points could also be used as a discussion guide at fellowship groups)
- Please read 1 Peter 5. In many ways this chapter summarises Peter’s encouragement to live as Jesus did in the midst of difficulties.
- From 1 Peter 1: 3-6, what has God given us? How does Peter describe this? What is the present experience of these Christians?
- From 1 Peter 2:9-10, how does Peter describe our experience before and after we became God’s people? Who are we now? In what ways does this affect us?
- From 1 Peter 2.21-25, to what has God called us? How do we relate this to what we read earlier about being God’s people? In what ways is obedience a sign of trust and hope in God?
- In 1 Peter 5.1, Peter reminds us that he is a witness to Christ. How do you think this affects his encouragement?
- How do you think 1 Peter 5.7 would have helped the Christians who received this letter?
- How does 1 Peter 5.7 help us? What does it say about God? See also Matt.6.33 and Phil 4.6,7.
- How does 1 Peter 5.10 helps us to keep perspective in the midst of difficulties?
- Spend some time praying about your anxieties.
