Strangers in the World
Study Guide
The following may help you reflect further on the message
(the points could also be used as a discussion guide at fellowship groups)
- Read John 4 v 4-9. Who might be surprised if we as Christians took time to talk to them today? Who are the taboos for Christians in society today?
- Read Luke 19 v 1-7. Have you ever been tempted to mutter about the sort of friends a Christian has? Has anybody ever muttered about your friends?
- Read Daniel 1 v 5 and 8. Have you ever had to draw the line and refuse to do something required of you by anyone in authority?
- God won't always send angels to close the lions' mouths. How do we keep faith that God is in control when we don't get a happy ending and the answer to prayer that we hoped for?
- Peter tells us that sinful desires wage war on our souls. How do we make sure we are equipped to fight back?
- Everyday life is busy and stressful. Do you find it hard to keep focussing on heavenly things and the inheritance you have been promised?
- Do you think it is harder to live as a stranger in a nominally Christian country, compared to one where Christianity is not mainstream or even tolerated?
