Crabtree Church News

Christmas is over and we trust that you all had a good holiday. During the festive season, we hope you had time to remember that Christmas begins with Christ. Jesus gives full meaning to all that took place in what we call the Nativity (it was great to see Noah’s Ark children involved in this). The baby in the manger grew to be a man. He said he was God and then showed us how to live. He then died for us. We take this message seriously at Crabtree Church and pray that you might do the same as we enter 2012 with all its uncertainty.

It would be great to see parents and children of Noah’s Ark in church on Sunday. We meet at 10.30am and children are catered for in our Sunday School.

For further details contact our Pastor, Bernard Cartledge at 07905 621672

Information

Winter weather

As it gets colder please could you ensure your child has a thick coat, hat and gloves. When you drop your child off please pop the hat etc. in their shoe box if possible so your child can independently find them and put them on when retrieving their shoes. When they are in their bag they quite often decide to take everything else out of their bag at the same time just to have a look what’s in there!

Could you also please make sure for children using the toilet they can get their trousers undone themselves as this really helps their confidence to use the toilet independently.

Funding

Funding forms and voluntary contribution forms have been given out to parents of children who have turned 3. When completed please return to the supervisor with an original birth certificate. This will be photocopied during the morning session and returned to you at the end of the session.

Little Fishes

This is a toddler group that meets every Thursday from 10.45 – 12 during term time in the main church building. The group is run by Doreen and is a part of Crabtree church’s ministry. Please feel free to pop in or tell your friends.

Leavers at end of summer term 2012

Please could you let Nicole know if your child is leaving at the end of the summer term and where hopefully they will be going to Nursery.

Future Dates for your diary

Monday 16th April – Noahs Ark is closed due to an inset day.

Coffee in the church

All parents are welcome to come into the church after drop off for the first week of term (9.15-10.00) for a cup of tea/coffee. This is a chance to meet other parents & staff. We can update you on how your children are settling in.

Quiet area

Speech, language and communication are key to children in everything they do. To support their development we are trialing a ‘Quiet Area’ in the foyer as sometimes it can be quite noisy in the main room and difficult to hear children clearly. For example this area may be used for storytelling, computer toys requiring listening skills or a one to one activity with their key worker. If you have any queries or suggestions on this initiative please do speak to your key worker.

Themes

As you can see we will be looking at my family over the next few weeks, please can you bring in some photos of your child’s family to be put in their All about me books.

Staff training

Just before the term starts, the team are undertaking some training on Makaton, which is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people communicate. We decided to study this method as it helps to support communication. Please see the following website for more information. http://www.makaton.org/about/about.htm.
