Noah's Ark Play School - Newsletter January 2010

A big thank you to all who attended the Pampered Chef evening last term, I am pleased to say that we raised £80.00 which will go towards Children in Need.  We also raised £39.00 for Children in Need for Red Nose day.

Our elderly friend from church was able to send 80  filled shoe boxes, including Noah’s Arks contribution to Blythswood as part of their Christmas shoe box appeal.  Our boxes were part of a consignment that went to Siberia. Thank you very much!

We will be holding our usual ‘mini’ service for children and parents from 12 -12.15. Children who attend on the day will be escorted by the staff, to meet the parents in the church. All children and parents are invited, even if you don’t attend playschool that morning.

Important Information

I am sorry to say that Jill will be leaving Noah’s Ark as she has started a teaching position at St. Dominic’s Nursery. Jill has worked at Noah’s Ark since 2006 and has been a very dedicated and valuable team member. We wish her all the best in her new venture.

Please can all children bring in 4 photos of themselves and family members. We use these for discussion with their key worker and to put in their “All about me” books.

Please name all coats, hats, gloves, scarves, slippers, shoes and wellies! Even though your child may know their coat, it makes it easier for staff to put coats etc in the right places.  Could all children have a set of spare clothes in a named bag.  Please no carrier bags.  Thank you.

Just a reminder that children can borrow a book from our library. You can purchase a book bag for 50p. Please see your key worker if you would like one.

For all new parents, we hold a “Show and Tell” each morning relating to the letter or number. Please name the items, there are labels on the show and tell table for you to use.

Security – If you are leaving the cloakroom and the door is locked, please ask a member of staff to open it for you. This way we ensure that the door is kept locked at all times as they can close it behind you.

Passwords/ID – We have met most mums and few dads but please support us if we have to ask for identification. If a different person is picking up your child, then we require a password for entry or identification with the name you have supplied us with. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Parent rota – we ask for mums/dads/carers/grandparents to help out approximately twice a term, please sign up on the rota near the signing in book. Please note that your child should have been with us at least half a term before you sign up, this is too support their settling in time with us.

Fruit and Vegetable rota – this is  by the signing in book. If all parents sign up then you will only need to sign up twice.

Animal groups – we are dividing the children up into animal groups to help run activities on a daily basis. The three groups are Giraffes, Pandas and Lions. Your key worker will let you know which group they are in.

Crabtree Church News

You are all warmly invited to our weekly morning service at Crabtree Church starting at 10.30 am every Sunday. We run Sunday School classes for all ages and every child is most welcome.

We are currently just starting another Alpha course exploring the Christian Faith and would be delighted if you would like to attend. We start at ~7.30pm on Monday evenings with a light supper followed by looking at the Alpha DVD and then having an informal chat to round off the evening. The groups are informal and you are welcome to ask as many questions as you like or just sit and listen. We do hope we have some answers for you. Mike Swingler can be contacted on 01582 461507 if you would like to attend.

We have a special Mothering Sunday Service on 14th March at 10.30am and we would especially like to invite you and your family to this church service. We look forward to meeting you at one of our services and we hope you and your child enjoy your time at Noah's Ark.

With God’s Blessing
